A thin layer shields

Love from lust,

Desire from want

And sin from the sacred.

That clever masquerade

Of good covered up as evil,

And the bad done up as lucrative;

Of pros mingled with cons

And fake draped with genuine…

A thin layer indeed

Of right distanced from wrong.
