And another day begins

And another day begins
Sunrise so fresh
after the stench of night
that was unbearable, uncouth.

And another day begins
Birds sing as if no one died.

gauri, this is stunning. 'the stench of night' is already such a powerful term, and then takes on a whole new angle in the light of the last line.

i am sorry, though, for whatever pain birthed such lines.

One has to wake up each morning forgetting about the past.

Dear Gauri......
Very painful, truthful, and hence touching.....the plant below the bud, the soil, the world and the God too want the bud to blossom , shading out the memories of pains and the pricks.....

And thank God for that! When I used to feel low, I used to console myself saying tomorrow will come soon enough. Your poem was really bang on!
