My best friend's wedding

It's a morning of hope.
As I look back, I see her
in Jr-Kg group photo:
Two thick plaits, kohl-smeared eyes, a huge grin.

I remember the times we laughed to tears,
Her signature eccentric quips
That gave a whacky perspective
To many a life-changing things...

Tomorrow, you will be gone:
Mrs. doesn't sound as fancy as Ms.
But I know you will live it all up
In your flamboyant, who-cares style.

Remember me even as you get engrossed
in the journey ahead, let it be fruitful.
When you look back, I will always be there;
And it's only old friends who can call a spade a spade.

For S.

My dear Gauri,

Did you attend the wedding of "S"?

I have not had the luck to even know where the friends of my childhood are!!! The earliest friend, whose wedding I attended in 1976, is from 1971.

In January 2011, I managed to track down a school-mate from 1961. When I met him he already had had two daughters.

So the marriage of your best friend can be a source of great joy. May you have better memories as you grow up.

Peace and love to "S" and U,
- Joe.

Hey Gauri,

Thought you will find it of interest, I self-published a book on amazon kindle "The Rising Fall" by Raman Kalia.

If you read, let me know your thoughts.

@Pinto sir: I have been lucky to have the same circle from Jr.Kg till now, so a host of marriages this year were very special moments that I thoroughly got joy from..

@Sara-- You are so right, it's such friends who maintain a reservoir of your impromptu thoughts and dreams and remind bits and pieces when the time is right. :)

@Homecooked: Exactly! You can pick up from the past as if it were tomorrow. As if memories survive collectively...

@ R-- :)Thanks, and I will forward the wishes..

@Raman-- Congratulations! Will read up and let you know.
